waterlilies

Today I have a couple of projects to show you using stamps from Chocolate Baroque - the waterlilies from the serenity set of stamps   and sentiments from artistic affirmations.

The first is a very simple card - I stamped the waterlily three times across a spare piece of white card using black versafine ink, and coloured the centre image with pencils. Added a mat of dark pink card, mounted onto a square white card blank, stamped the sentiment in black at the bottom corner - very quick!

The cheap wooden box from a local discount store was covered with white gesso and then a rough coat of distress paint, leaving a mottled effect which I hoped would look watery. I stamped the waterlily images direct onto the box using memento ink.- if I could have crossed my fingers while stamping, I would have done! The leaves were coloured with alcohol pens, and the petals with white acrylic paint

My final sample is a cheap mirror, from a well-known flat-pack store, thanks to a friend who was going to pick up some furniture and was happy to add to her list.
I used leftover pieces of card coloured with brushos, cut into squares to fit round the central mirror. Two squares were embossed and rubbed with gilding wax, and two stamped. The butterflies from Steampunk butterfly were stamped in black versafine onto more spare pieces, cut out and glued in the corners.
Definitely something that would wake you up in the morning!

quick cards

A few quick cards today, showing some of the samples from the last Chocolate Baroque show on Hochanda.
The first card is a 6" square white blank card, stamped with the buddha image from tranquility in dark brown ink, with the colour dragged out with a wet paintbrush to give shading. The bulrushes were coloured with pencils .
I sponged peeled paint distress ink through a bamboo stencil along both sides, making sure I didn't go over the image.
You could add a sentiment as I have on the second version, which took a fair bit longer as it was coloured with watercolour pencils and a waterbrush and I masked out the image with drawing gum.

The last two both used offcuts of card that had been coloured with Brusho powders.
The first was a 5"x7" card using the outlined grasses image from eastern grasses  simply stamped in blackversafine ink and clear embossed at the bottom of the piece of green card. A thin black mat round the trimmed  image was all that was needed.

Last one was very quick, just five spare pieces of brushoed card cut into squares. Four toning pieces gluedobto an 8" square white card blank, sentiment also from artistic affirmations stamped onto last piece in black versafine ink, edged with the same ink direct from the pad, mounted onto a square of white card and glued in the centre.

serenity

Good morning everyone - hopefully the better weather we are promised is on the way! A much nicer day here at least, even if it is still a bit grey and dull at least there is no rain or fog.
My card today uses the main image from the  Chocolate Baroque serenity stamp sheet for the focal point.
I stamped it in dark brown ink, and coloured with alcohol pens. I used Pebeo drawing gum to mask the image before stamping the trees from the same set behind the shrine in green distress ink, and sponging more green to create a background.
I added the wisteria stamp from wisteria lane along the top using a darker green. Once I was sure everything was dry, I rubbed off the drawing gum, trimmed the image, mounted it onto a square white card blank with a narrow black mat.

tranquility

Good morning everyone, hopefully the weather is better today where you are after the rainy Easter we have had.
Maybe I ought to apologise for showing such a watery scene after all the rain we have had lately..........................
I love the tranquility set of stamps from Chocolate Baroque, but here I used the waterlilies from serenity as well.
I stamped the lilies three times across the base of the card, then masked  them using Pebeo drawing gum before stamping a fourth lily at one side and then the statue from tranquility
After rubbing off the drawing gum I coloured everything with distress inks, using a waterbrush.

The statue was in grey tones to repreent stone, it did end up a bit darker than i really wanted though! For the sky and water I used ink onto a blending mat, added loads of water then used a large paintbrush to roughly colour in the sky and water
