It has been a long time since I was able to make a challenge card , so the snow does have some benefits - and I like to think that the heat gun increases the temperature a little bit!
Colour challenge 13 on 52cct is to use purple, metallic silver and white - I had been playing with micro beads, and come to the conclusion that they needed a frame, so this fitted in quite well - and I even found some purple card................
The snowflake was the first effort, from the SU snowflake soiree set, stamped on acetate with white craft ink, then the micro beads added to the back using double-sided adhesive sheet after diecutting the shape suing Sizzix/SU framelits (I discovered that you can cut with scissors after using the beads, but wouldn't like to risk the dies). I cut a frame out using 2 dies from silver mirri card and glued them together before mounting onto the 5.5" square card base.
The second effort was more succesful, stamping the bauble stamp from the ornament keepsakes set (more SU) in versamark and embossing with white EP before using the micro beads on the back. I used a different framelits set for this one.
am also using this for craftyhazelnuts challenge - anything goes - another that i haven't entered for ages
Oooh, what a great way to use micro beads! Love the shiny silver mirror card against the rich purple!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for playing along with us at 52 {C}CT & I hope you join us again very soon - although I hope it doesn't have to snow to enable that to happen! Ruth x
I have never used micro beads so am in awe of your technique, thanks for the tips! These are both beautiful, the bauble is probably my favourite, but both use the colour combination so perfectly. Thanks for joining in with us at 52 CCT

Interesting use of micro beads - not tried them yet but might look out for a pot sometime. The snow has probably caused a lot of crafting to be done today up and down the country!
ReplyDeleteYou have made a couple of great cards there, I've some micro beads in a box I was given a while ago but never used must have a pay sometime. The snow has meant I've been crafting today too I've almost got my February quintiles finished

ReplyDeleteThese are great Veronica! I have several packets of micro beads not even opened and I've had them for at least 3 years. Thanks for this idea on how to use them. I must have a go because it's really effective. I agree the second card shows up better but that is a really pretty snowflake.
