joy and koi alphatags

These are the latest for the alphatag swap over at Chocolate Baroque - it is getting harder to think of something for some letters now, something that I have a matching stamp for at least.
I couldn't find any stamps to match my first ideas for J - I even put some 'orphans' away whilst searching! - and then I had  a brainwave. This stamp was part of a set bought last year, and fitted beautifully - just hadn't thought of using a Christmas stamp. The white tag was stamped with black versafine and clear embossed, then sponged with distress inks, mostly tumbled glass, broken china and chipped
sapphire. I used white gel pen to outline the words and add detail to the holly border.
The K tag was easy, using one of my favourite stamps from years ago, the chinese-style koi carp. I used the faux pearl background, starting with tsukineko frost white shimmer ink and then mostly the same DIs used for the J tag, but more of the lighter colours. The image was  stamped in black versafine, grasses sponged over with shabby shutters DI before colouring the fish with watercolour pencils. The fish then got a coat of rock candy stickles, then one of clear crackle
accents, some stickles were smudged along the water as well, and a few highlights in white gel pen.
The final tags are the ones I received last month, the lovely golden H for happy hearts from Kathryn and the beautifully coloured  I for Ipomoea from Sarah - thanks ladies, two lovely additions to my growing collection

  1. J was a really hard one - I thought that. I have an idea for K but I must admit your Koi is rather splendid - that shine is so realistic.

PS - I keep thinking of you & your orphans whenever I need to put my stamps away.

  2. Two more lovely tags Vronnie. I like the white outline on the writing. It really makes it stand out.
It is indeed years since I saw that koi stamp. I remember seeing it on a create and craft demonstration before I knew anything about Elusive images. It is a lovely stamp and certainly deserves another airing. Kate x

  3. You are right some of the letters do tax the brain somewhat particularly in regard to stamps I have but so far have managed to get there. These two tags are great and I don't even remember the koi stamp but it is a good one for K.

  5. Love the tags, especially the christmas one. I think the tags are nicer than ATC's...bit more room to work on.

  6. Your tags are gorgeous Veronica. I've found both these letters difficult this month because I can't find any stamps to represent them ........and me with a huge EI and CB collection, lol! I'm sure I must have something but am just not seeing it. That koi stamp was the first one I ever saw Glenda demo on C&C too and have always intended getting it and never got round to it.
I used Joy for my J tag too but just the word and not Christmassy. K is still in the making :o(.
Our collection of swaps is building up beautifully now isn't it. I shall have to do a post with all mine on soon.

    Hugs
